How can we ensure communication in emergency situations caused by climate-related disasters and incidents? This is the question driving the project Technologies for Rapid Response to Climate Incidents and Disasters – Tridecs, developed by Nupef with support from the Digital Access Programme of the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Brazil.
Here on the Field Diary, we’ll share the behind-the-scenes of this journey: research processes, technology testing, challenges encountered along the way, collective learnings, team reflections, and records of the experiences developed in the territories.
More than presenting final results, we want to make room to follow the “in-between”: the conversations, the questions, the methodological choices, and the paths being built throughout the project.
Tridecs seeks to map and test technological solutions for contexts where conventional systems fail — especially in climate emergency situations. The pilot phase is already underway in Maranhão and Rio Grande do Sul, territories marked by distinct climates and different challenges related to connectivity, communication, and rapid response in crisis scenarios.
This space works as a kind of open research and experimentation notebook. A place to closely follow how technology, territory, and communication come together in building more resilient and community-based responses to the climate emergency.
Come along with us! There’s a lot more coming.
